Welcome to Cafe Merci, a delightful gem nestled in Nagareyama, Chiba, Japan. This charming café is located on the second floor of a mixed residential and commercial building, making it feel like a cozy hideaway for coffee lovers and those seeking a serene spot to unwind.

At Cafe Merci, the heart of the experience is undeniably the coffee. Under the meticulous craftsmanship of their award-winning barista, who honed his skills in Australia, every cup served is not just a drink, but an homage to the art of coffee-making. As one enthusiastic customer, Alexander Wagner, enthusiastically shared, "It is not an exaggeration to say that this place possibly serves the best coffee in all of Japan!" From robust, ristrettos to deep, flavor-rich espressos, each sip delights and invigorates the senses, inviting you to come back for more.

The atmosphere at Cafe Merci is equally inviting. Imagine settling into a quaint, air-conditioned space with light streaming through open windows, or perhaps choosing a spot in their smoking-friendly area. The ambiance is perfect for both socializing with friends or savoring a moment of solitude with a good book. Malcolm Lee describes it as “quaint and cozy,” a fitting description for such a thoughtful and beautifully curated space.

As you sip your drink, keep an eye out for the stunning latte art, a signature aspect of their coffee offerings. Customers rave about the creativity and precision that goes into each cup, like Yutaka Yoshida who noted the captivating coffee art crafted by the owner. It's no wonder Rochey Chan calls it a "really great café," as the presentation is as pleasing as the rich flavors themselves.

Beyond the coffee, indulge in an array of delicious pastries and cakes that accompany your beverage of choice. Each treat is made with care, ensuring that every visit tantalizes your taste buds. With the friendly staff, who speak a remarkable amount of English, you’ll feel welcomed and well taken care of – a sentiment echoed by Nico Colic, who praises their friendly service.

In a world where coffee shops seem to blend into one another, Cafe Merci stands out as a distinctive place where quality, creativity, and community converge. Whether you’re a seasoned coffee enthusiast or just in the mood for a tranquil escape, this café promises an experience that is both memorable and rewarding. Discover this hidden treasure in Nagareyama and treat yourself to a remarkable coffee journey!

It is not an exaggeration to say that this place possibly serves the best coffee in all of Japan. Nice ristretto-like coffee or deep flavourful espressos (short blacks) - the multiple award and competition winning barrista has trained in Australia.

A light and charming café, tucked away in an apartment building like a secret hideout. The owner, who studied in Australia, creates captivating coffee art.

デリシャス This place is super cute! It’s cash only so I had to hit the atm and come back. But totally worth it. Two people working so a small staff, but they are very fast and efficient. If I had to guess they are husband and wife. The man speaks really great English so don’t be afraid to check this place out if you Japanese isn’t great like mine! Menu is in Japanese with the specials on a chalk board. I did a lunch set with drink and dessert and it was delicious! Everything was very fresh and flavorful. I ate it all so fast I forgot to take pictures!
